OVERVIEW
ChurchPH is a redesigned website of existing online platforms that caters to mass times, given how cluttered these platforms are in terms of information. I redesigned a platform to enhance clarity and reduce cognitive load for people, especially older people, focusing on what needs to be seen and how I made it easy to use.
As a Catholic, my family and I often encounter a simple yet recurring problem
which is missing the start of a Mass. This usually happens due to limited awareness of nearby church schedules or because existing online sources are cluttered, outdated, and difficult to navigate.
This experience revealed a clear information overload issue, where users like my family and I struggle to identify the most important details within the system.
What if there's a redesign and reimagined application in accessing masses easily?

Redesign Overview
I redesigned the platform’s UX/UI to improve clarity and usability, introducing a feature that highlights current and upcoming Mass schedules. The design focuses on strong visual hierarchy, consistent spacing using an 8-point system, and a simplified structure to reduce cognitive load and surface essential information.

The home screen is now structured into clear, purpose-driven sections, making it easier to scan and navigate. A search bar enables quick access to churches, while “Upcoming Masses” highlights relevant schedules based on time. Nearby churches are presented visually, improving discoverability and reducing cognitive load.

The church page now prioritizes essential information with a clean, icon-supported layout for better readability. A carousel showcases church images for context, while mass schedules emphasize the current day. Secondary details are tucked behind a “Next” action, keeping the interface focused and uncluttered.
MY INSIGHTS
The platform that I have reimagined and redesigned has improved its usability given how the system highlights its main purpose which is to immediately know what masses are currently ongoing, and what is upcoming. Moreover, reducing task completion by introducing the search and location filter buttons within the home screen.
ChurchPH still has a long way to go, given the technical and logistical setbacks to an effective implementation; however, it taught me to understand the problem, think like a platform user, develop design solutions, and implement them using my current design skills.
